What’s it all about?

Why???

An element of pointing out “Six Degrees of Separation” (a term first attributed to the Hungarian author, Frigyes Karinthy; but the most likely popularizer of the term “six degrees of separation” would be John Guare, who attributed the value ’six’ to Marconi.) might be a part of this.

The reason I began this is two-fold:

The first is that as a shy ex-actor, this kind of information was invaluable when I would attend a party or gathering full of “theatrical types” in New York as I began my first career journey. It all came in handy, able to comment on a play, a musical, the recent movie showing and tossing in a bit of fun information or corrected misconception. THAT was my crutch – and it came in quite handy. I made many friends, got an occasional job and got into lots of winnable debates.

The second is that I would discover that after seeing a show or movie with a friend, I would start spouting all sorts of things and sometimes find that my companion(s) would just stare at me in either amazement, confusion or a look of ENOUGH ALREADY! Some of them could just not appreciate my obscurities or interest. I will assume that if you are reading this, there is the slightest possibility that we have a mutual interest. And if you come back more than once, you are a freak in my corner and for that I applaud you and welcome you.

I gladly invite comments, corrections, new information and most definitely a laugh or a recognition of the “aw factor” (knowing that I have been able to share something new and unknown). This is not meant to be a Keven Bacon rip-off or even a comparison.  But if you click on his website, play the game and decide to donate to his cause, all the better.

All said, I do not want this to be Six Degrees of anything – simply trivia and if those relationships slip in, then so be it.  My hope is that this site will serve as pure fun and a bit of entertainment.
